Over 70% of all bat species feed on insects and as such play an important role in controlling insect numbers. UK bats do not suck your blood – but they will help clear the air of bloodsucking mosquitoes!
All bats in the UK are insectivores – they only eat insects. Insect-eating bats are great for keeping bugs away from crops and gardens. Because bats eat so many insects in some regions, they can also reduce the need for pesticide sprays.
THE BAT CONSERVATION TRUST need you to help support them in the work. By taking part in the Sunset Survey you will provide vital data for the BCT so that they can help maintain and support bats survival. This International Bat Night 30th August could be the perfect opportunity to get involved click here to find out how. For more ideas to celebrate International Bat Night click here

Each year LOROS Hospice cares for over 2,600 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, delivering free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their families and carers. All LOROS care is as special and unique as each individual.
Remember Me is the work of local artist Anna Shutt, who was inspired by looking through photograph albums of much-loved relatives. Utilising the iconic Polaroid, the sculpture is strewn with photo frames just like the bedroom floor when we’re sifting through our favourite pics. Each frame preserves a name of a loved one, accompanied by forget me nots, robins and butterflies.
