Bharatha Amarasinghe of our NEXT Manufacturing Team in Sri Lanka shared an update about our partnership with Gammadda Project a Community Initiative.
"On the 7th October we officially handed over the school development project in partnership with Gammadda, in the Anamaduwa area, approximately 33 km from our manufacturing facility.
This has been a wonderful and meaningful initiative for the school, providing a smart classroom equipped with a digital board, along with two additional classrooms to support Social and Environmental Studies and Science education for students preparing for their G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) examinations.
The project will make a real difference to the students by improving their learning environment and providing better access to modern educational facilities.
I am also pleased to share that the handover ceremony was featured on a local television channel, helping to raise awareness of this valuable community initiative.
Thank you sincerely for all your support and for securing the funding allocation for this meaningful initiative. Your continued commitment to our CSR projects is greatly appreciated, and it is rewarding to see the positive impact we can make together in the communities surrounding our manufacturing facilities.
With sincere appreciation,
Bharatha
'Planted in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 ... this young wood is now flourishing into a beautiful young woodland made up of oak, field mapple, silver birch, beech and hornbeam.' We learnt from Laura Barlow, from the Woodland Trust that we don't need to wait that long to see a sapling grow and create an impact. A wood can be grown relatively quickly meaning that any tree planting is able to be seen in our life times leaving mature woods for future generations.
The work of the Woodland Trust volunteeers who plant, maintain and upkeep the woods is instrumental in keeping these spaces free and accessible. Gerald took us on a tour of the wood and pointed out the trees and shrubs, his knowledge about the Diamond Jubilee wood and the surrounding areas was astounding.

Celebrating collaboration and community at the Chelsea Flower Show with Parkinson's UK.
On a beautiful sunny day in May colleagues from across NEXT had the unique opportunity to experience a personal tour of the Parkinson's UK show garden. Guided by their expert gardeners, our team learned how every element of the space was intentionally designed to be accessible and enjoyable for people living with Parkinson's.
Colleagues throughout NEXT were given the opportunity to nominate colleagues who they appreciate and who had contributed to charitable causes. It was wonderful to meet colleagues from throughout NEXT along with some of our charity partners and share the experience of the Chelsea Flower show.
'We want to share our sincere thanks to Parkinson's UK for the vital work they do every day, and to our dedicated Charities team for making this event possible. It is through these meaningful collaborations that we continue to connect, learn and drive positive impact together.' Lifeat NEXT
'Thank you so much for spending time in our garden and for your thoughtful support. We’re so pleased your team had the chance to experience it and learn more about the intentional design choices that reflect life with Parkinson’s'💙Parkinson's UK
Magda the fundraising manager for Raising Health (the fundraising arm of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust) contacted charities manager Jo Lee for support to transform the sensory rooms for the Children's Therapy services into child friendly spaces. Genna and Livvii felt inspired. Both trained designers they were able to make what were previously bland spaces into themed spaces which create calm and inspiration.
The Children's therapy services support young patients with complex developmental needs. Each room had been given a theme.

We love fashion and that includes all things secondhand. From our monthly collections where colleagues are able to bring their pre-loved items into work. OXFAM collect and then distribute the items so that the things we no longer have use for can have a new lease of life. We started with clothing and decided to take on Second Hand September by sharing our love of books. Along with our Sports & Social Book Club we gathered in colleague donations, many of which were wrapped by our lovely Livvii. We'd taken inspiration from our Joules Head Office who had previously hosted a 'Mystery Book Club'. Books were wrapped with just a few clues available giving us all the opportunity to perhaps select a different genre!
We did our best to make the event as sustainable as possible by using pallets on which our deliveries arrive to make book shelves. And the paper used to wrap the books is the stuffing that we use to protect the stock we send out as raffle prizes for fundraising. We're so grateful to all who came along to our book sale. We together raised £444.00!
A huge thank you for this, what a talented team you are it’s so impressive – I love it! We also received the additional books yesterday at our Batley warehouse (your generosity meant we weren't able to wrap them all) and we estimate this will raise an additional £450 so thank you. Therefore, in total you have help Oxfam raise an incredible £894.00 through book sales for Second Hand September. THANK YOU!!!
We're grateful for all the support in hosting this event that enables us to raise much needed funds for OXFAM. Thanks to all those that took part by donating, browsing or buying. If you didn't make it this time look our for the Mystery Book Club Sale 2026
SUPPORTING charities and organisations that have an impact in the countries, communities and territories we operate in and source from; chosen both by the company and our colleagues via their representatives.
GIVING donations of money, gifts, products and other resources such as expertise, knowledge or time and through the redistribution of carrier bag levees and other similar payments.
ENGAGING colleagues in "giving", both at work and in their own time by making it easy to access donations to help their chosen charities and organisations.
